Day 2: Visit to Alhambra

 

Morning and noon:​

​

  • Sights in the Alhambra:

    • Nasrid Palaces (highlight with beautiful Islamic wood carvings and mosaics).

    • Generalife Gardens: a peaceful oasis with fountains, gardens, and views over the city.

    • Alcazaba: the ancient fortress with panoramic views of Granada.

    • Palacio de Carlos V: a Renaissance palace in the heart of the Alhambra complex.

  • Take enough time (4-5 hours) to explore the entire complex at your leisure.

Afternoon:

​

  • Walk along the Paseo de los Tristes, a picturesque street at the foot of the Alhambra.

  • Take a break in a café with a view of the Alhambra.

​

Evening:

​

  • For flamenco enthusiasts, attending a flamenco show during your visit to Granada is highly recommended. This can be done in the Sacromonte district, famous for its cave dwellings and traditional flamenco dances. It can also be combined with dinner.

City Trip Granada

Day 1: Arrival in Granada

 

Arrival:

​

· Flight to Málaga or Granada Airport (Granada is a smaller airport).

· Transfer of rental car to the center of Granada (approximately a 1,5 drive from Malaga).

 

First exploration of Granada:

​

- Stroll through the historic centre: Visit the charming streets around the Cathedral of Granada and the Royal Chapel (Capilla Real), where the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella are buried.

- Enjoy the delicious local tapas! Try "La Bella y la Bestia" or "Los Diamantes," for example.

- Walk through the atmospheric Albaicín district, a mediaeval Moorish neighbourhood.

- Have diner in a restaurant with a view of the Alhambra from Mirador de San Nicolás. This is a magical experience, especially at sunset.

Day 3: Discover the culture and neighborhoods of Granada

​

Albaicín (Morning):

​

- Further explore this UNESCO World Heritage district. Wander through the narrow Moorish streets, visit small squares, and local shops.

- Stop for tea and treats in a tetería (traditional tea houses with an Arabic atmosphere).

​

Realejo (Afternoon):

- Visit the old Jewish quarter, El Realejo, now a trendy neighbourhood full of street art and lively squares.

- Have lunch at Plaza Campo del Príncipe and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

- Visit the Monasterio de San Jerónimo

-  Beautiful monastery with impressive Renaissance architecture and a richly decorated church.

​

Evening:

- Take a leisurely walk along the Genil River.

- Dine in a local restaurant near Plaza Bib-Rambla.

​

Day 4: Option One - Day trip to the Sierra Nevada

​

- Just a 45-minute drive from Granada lies the stunning Sierra Nevada mountain range. Perfect for hiking, skiing (in winter), or simply enjoying spectacular views.

Day 4: Option Two - Hammam Experience

​

- End your trip with relaxation at an Arabic bathhouse, such as Hammam Al Ándalus. Here, you can enjoy warm baths and massages

​

Day 5: Departure

​

- Travel back to the airport for your flight home.

​
